Bristol Ladies 1st XV fell to their third consecutive defeat of the season this afternoon, with a tough 19 – 10 loss away to Wasps.

The two teams were equally matched throughout the first half with Wasps taking the lead 10 minutes from half time through flanker, Jane Leonard. 5 minutes later Bristol struck back. Claire Molloy orchestrated a brilliant turnover following a Wasps scrum and the team worked the ball out wide for Sydney Gregson who carried it over the line superbly for her third try of the season. The score levelled to 5 – 5.

Shortly after Wasps scored their second try and of the game. An interception from Michaela Staniford led to a sprint down the pitch, and a try by the posts from the England player.Hannah Edwards converted for a 12-5 lead.  Again Bristol bounced straight back with Nolli Waterman beating several Wasps defenders to score and take the half time score to 12 – 10.

The second half started well, with Wasps making lots of ground. Australian international, Dalena Dennison, made a notable break up the pitch which led to a Wasps try through the forwards. Many phases were executed and Bianca Dawson eventually crashed over the line to score. The try was converted and put Wasps up 19–10.

The remaining 30 minutes were fast paced and fresh legs from both sides added to the excitement, however, with no more scores from either side, Wasps held their lead to win the game.

Final score Wasps 19 – Bristol 10.
