DMP Sharks

Darlington Mowden Park Sharks are a team based in the heart of the beautiful North of England.  Drawing players from the length and breadth of the region, Sharks have made huge progress in recruiting and developing talented and committed players over the past season.  Launching a development squad for the first time this season, the Sharks are investing in their future and making further strides towards maintaining a strong and competitive 1st team.

Strong relationships with the region’s university network has given the Sharks the opportunity to recruit and support players entering the senior pathway and help them to achieve their performance aspirations.  With a great coaching team and some of the most experienced players in the women’s game at the fore-front of the team’s leadership, the Sharks are committed to developing an environment where ambitious players are given the platform to achieve their goals.

Sharks play their home games at The Northern Echo Arena in Darlington.  The ground which is owned by DMP is a 25,000 stadium with full media, conferencing and banqueting facilities.  The site also plays host to a CrossFit Gym, Martial Arts Academy and physiotherapy centre.

Head Coach – Phil Sharpe

Head Coach, Phil Sharpe joins the Sharks for his first season in charge from Norfolk based clubs Southwold RFC and Uni of East Anglia. Sharpe, who also brings strength and conditioning expertise, will have a strong influence on the physical development and match preparation of the Sharks 1st XV.

A level 3 coach whose focus revolves around player development; Sharpe will play a vital role in the leadership of the Sharks campaign.  With an impressive coaching repertoire including Norfolk County and London & South East divisional team in addition to spells at Northampton Saints DPP, Diss RFC and Lowestoft and Yarmouth RFC, Phil will add a new dimension to the team’s development.
