Army Rugby Union (Women)

This is our 18th season of women’s rugby within the Army and we continue to enhance the development of the team which was founded in 1996. Today women’s rugby is vibrant and played at all levels around the world in competitions and events. With the England Women’s Rugby Team winning the World Cup this year the publicity for women’s rugby has increased exponentially. With our aim to challenge and develop the team, we have been extremely busy organising a demanding fixture list playing both Championship and Premiership Clubs within the UK, which will give the players the opportunity to play against International and National players.

The standard of Army Women’s Rugby is increasing year on year. This is no small part, due to the very successful and thriving Inter Corps Championship. Two further initiatives which have reaped definite benefits are the introduction of an Army Development Team, introducing new players with the potential to play at full Army level to a higher standard of Rugby and the second being Corps Concentrations, enabling a large number of players to come together and receive a high level of coaching, exchange ideas and develop skill sets.
Women’s rugby will only continue to develop with your support, if you would like to play or support the team, please contact your Corps Rugby Coordinator who will assist you in any way possible.

Over the last few seasons more females have been getting involved in coaching and refereeing, which can only develop the grass route rugby so that all potential rugby players have role models to look up to. With Army players involved in premiership and international rugby, as a sport we are in a good place, but we need to continue to build upon our successes and aim ever higher.
