Bristol Ladies 1st XV defeated Aylesford Bulls today in a dominant performance at The Portway Development Centre, moving them up to fourth in the table.

Bristol powered over the try line 11 times, with tries from Katie Mason (2), Siobhan Longdon Hughes (2), Becky Hughes (2) Abbie Brown (1) Devon Holt (1), Sydney Gregson (1) Olivia Jones (1) and Deborah Fleming (1). Amber Reed secured seven of the eleven conversions to taken the final score to 69 – 3.

Building on the momentum from last week’s win over Worcester, the girls looked unstoppable. Longdon Hughes, Gregson and Hughes showed off their pace and impressive footwork, making several breaks and charging the length of the pitch. Molloy and Buckland Hurry showed their strength, making excellent tackles and pushing forward throughout the game, whilst the pack were fierce and aggressive at the scrum.

There were 6 yellow cards shown by the referee, three for Aylesford and three for Bristol, however apart from a penalty in the first half, the Bristol defense stayed strong and kept Aylesford out.

After the game Head Coach LJ Adams praised the team spirit ‘It was a really enjoyable game, and really pleasing that we didn’t let them over our try line at any point – that was one of our aims for this match. Baylee Annis played brilliantly today, she’s really getting to grips with her role in the pack and consistently delivering when we need her to. It was also great to have Amber Reed on for the full 80 minutes, her leadership is really valued by all the players. We kept our composure and stuck to our game and it really paid off today’.

Abbie Brown (13) is in her first season with Bristol Ladies, and is really enjoying the experience ‘That was such an up tempo game, we really came together as a team today and worked on keeping the ball alive. I’m getting to know my team mates much better now and feel as a squad we’re gaining consistency and momentum. We need to work on our discipline going forward, but I’m having a brilliant time playing this level of rugby with a fantastic group of girls’.
