Worcester Ladies were welcomed to a wet and muddy Twyford Avenue this afternoon in Round  8 of the Women’s Premiership.

The game started well for Wasps, who retained much of the possession and stayed camped in the Worcester half for the majority of the first 40 minutes. Despite the rain and slippery conditions there was commendable handling from both sides.

20 minutes in, Wasps made it over Worcester’s try line but were held up. The excitement for the home side continued as Emilia Kristiansson stole a line out and charged up the pitch. Unfortunately the girls were unable to capitalise on this opportunity, but a penalty kick from Tess  Gardner minutes before half time put the first points on the board. HT Wasps 3 – Worc 0.

The 2nd half was action packed for the first few minutes, with Gemma Rowland scoring for Wasps after a massive team effort. The try was unconverted, 8-0. However, Worcester replied immediately with a try from Ceri Large, which was converted by Megan Goddard. Wasps 8- Worc 7.

A controversial decision over a penalty kick from Worcester ignited the fire in the visitors, and an unconverted try from Goddard took them to 12 points. Wasps were unable to pull anything out the bag in the final minutes of the game, leaving the final score at Wasps 8 – Worcester 12.
