Saracens Preview

Saracens Women have named their side to face Gloucester-Hartpury at Hartpury College on Saturday for the sixth round of the Tyrrells Premier 15s, kick off 14h30.

Eighteen year old Cara Wardle gets her first Saracens start as she is promoted from the bench to play at outside centre alongside Nina Vistisen at inside centre.

The half back pairing of Georgie Gulliver at scrum half and April Brown at fly half remains unchanged, with Zoe Harrison who this week was called into the Red Roses squad, named amongst the replacements.

Rob Cain’s back three combination of Rowan White at fullback, and Garnet Mackinder and captain
Lotte Clapp on the wings resumes for the fourth consecutive match.

Up front, El Perry earns her first start of the Tyrrells Premier 15s as she comes in at loosehead prop with Kat Evans at hooker and Sam Martinez Gion rounding off the front row.

Marlie Packer is rested following a knock in the win versus Richmond last week so Sarries stalwart Sonia Green moves into the openside flanker jersey. Harriet Austin continues at blindside and Poppy Cleall, who notched up four tries in round five continues at no.8.

There’s a new second row partnership as Rosie Galligan comes in alongside Valeria Fedrighi in the Sarries engine room.

Speaking ahead of the match, head coach Rob Cain said:

Massive congratulations to Lotte, Poppy, Marlie and Zoe for all being named in the Autumn Internationals squad. It’s great for them and the club.

Gloucester Hartpury have come out firing since the start of the competition. They play fast attacking rugby and have lots of different ball carriers to force the momentum of the game and have caused teams problems with the keep their ball alive mentality.

Each week our continued focus is to play the type of game we want to play, to try and reach a bit higher and for everyone to give a bit more to the group trying to achieve the aims we set out during the week. There is lots more to come and the challenge for us is to keep moving towards that.

We have another exciting squad out Saturday and it’s nice to be able welcome back a few players who did so well for England against South Africa last week.
