HARLEQUINS ANNOUNCE SQUADS TO PLAY FIRWOOD WATERLOO
Harlequins Ladies Co-Head Coaches Karen Findlay and Gary Street have announced their squads to play Firwood Waterloo on Saturday at Surrey Sports Park.
Vickii Cornborough is back at loosehead having missed the match at Loughborough Lightning last week with injury while Leah Lyons returns at hooker and Chloe Edwards moves to tighthead. Leanne Riley starts at scrum-half while Stacey White comes in at outside centre.
Harlequins suffered a disappointing 41-17 defeat at Loughborough last Saturday but are determined to put that right at home against Firwood Waterloo, who lost 14-52 at home against Wasps FC Ladies last week.
Findlay said: “We are really looking forward to our first home Double Header with both squads raring to go.
“The First XV want to rectify areas of our defensive game we felt we simply didn’t perform well in last weekend and which cost us in a defeat to a good Loughborough side.
“Work rate for the 80 minutes is key for us this weekend, and ensuring our set-piece platform – especially our lineout – delivers.
“The Development Squad had a great first away win last week and are looking to kick on from that. Flankers Emily Robinson and Ashleigh Greenslade, stand-off Emogene Sutton and winger Kiera Paul-Jones all had great opening performances, to add to the impact of new second rows Courtney Dobson and Louisa Ward.
“The side want to keep that winning momentum and players are on the heels of our first XV players which is exactly what we want the environment to be creating.“
