Harlequins Ladies continued their winning streak by putting six tries past DMP Sharks at Surrey Sports Park today. This now moves Harlequins to the top of the Tyrrells Premier 15s league,.

Five tries in the first half including two by Jess Wooden saw off DMP Sharks. England International Vickii Cornborough also got her name on the score sheet alongside Jess Breach, with a penalty try rounding off the points in the first 40.

Sharks fought back in the second half with two tries to get them off the mark but that wasn’t enough to hold off Quins, with a late break by Laura Dowsett completing the win.

Harlequins got off to an early break opening the score in the first three minutes with a try by Jess Wooden but unfortunately, she couldn’t convert her own try.

Sharks were penalised early leading to Vickii Cornborough, who has just returned to the team from representing England at the Rugby World Cup, crossing over the line for Quins’ second try in the opening 10 minutes. Wooden converted to make it 12-0.

Sharks broke after Quins were penalised for holding on but the home team managed to regain possession and drove forward to the Sharks line and Wooden scored her second of the afternoon as she made it 17-0 after just 15 minutes.

Sharks made a replacement early on before another brilliant break by Shaunagh Brown and an offload to Breach led to Quins’  bonus point try. Wooden converted to put Harlequins 24-0 up before the half hour mark.

Shortly after, Quins were rewarded with a penalty try from the scrum to extend the lead to 31-0 at the break.

Sharks got the second half underway and made an early break with possession in the Quins half. A drive to the Quins line was pushed over by replacement front row Elle Bloor to reduce the gap to 31-5.

Sharks managed to keep possession and kept Quins on the defence leading the home team to make some early replacements into the second half.

Holly Myers was sent to the bin on 63 minutes for an intentional knock down as Sharks crept ever closer to the Quins try line. Down to 14, Sharks scored through Katherine Hobson but failed with the conversion attempt.

Sharks pushed the Quins defence right to the very end with the ball being kept in the Quins half for the majority of the second half.

With just a few minutes to go, Holly Myers returned from the sin bin before Linzi Taylor for Sharks was also shown a yellow card for a knock down in the closing stages of the match.

With the player advantage they scored their sixth try in the final seconds of the match as Laura Dowsett crossed the line making the final score 36-10.

Quins now have a 100% win rate from the first four matches of the Tyrrell’s Premier 15s with their next match against Bristol Ladies at The Stoop on Saturday 21st October, kick-off 15:00. Tickets for the match against Bristol are now on sale, £10 adults and £5 juniors with this match being included in Quins Membership.
