THE WOMEN IN QUARTERED SHIRTS GET THEIR SEVENTH WIN IN SEVEN CONSECUTIVE TYRRELLS PREMIER MATCHES WITH A 39 – 10 VICTORY AT SHAFTESBURY PARK IN ROUND 10.

A hat trick from winger Heather Cowell and tries from Jade Konkel, Shaunagh Brown and Bethan Dainton bring Quins a brilliant win on the road.

Despite a cagey opening quarter, with neither side taking a backward step in attack or defence, it was the visitors that struck first through an opportunistic score from Winger Heather Cowell. Even with the conversion missed, Quins had an early 5-point lead.

Eight minutes later, Cowell went in again following some brilliant individual defence from skipper Rachael Burford. With the extras missed, Harlequins led by 10 points to 0.

Four minutes after that, Cowell completed her hat trick following a classic rumble forward from Shaunagh Brown, increasing her side’s lead to 15 points heading into the break.

Quins came out of the blocks firing in the second half, and at the 52-minute mark, Jade Konkel crossed the whitewash for her first try in the quarters thanks to a brilliant assist from second row Zoe Saynor. Fly-half Ellie Green stepped up to nail the kick, giving her side a 22-point lead.

At 63 minutes, the hosts got their first try, reducing the gap to 17 points as the match entered its final quarter.

The visitors soon responded through a try from winger Georgia Newman to replenish her side’s lead and was swiftly followed by a converted score from Red Rose Shaunagh Brown. Quins were now ahead by 34 points to 5.

Three minutes later, Game Changer Bethan Dainton ran in her side’s sixth try to increase their haul to 39 points. Bristol went over for a consolation score with minutes left to make the final score 39 points to 5 to the visitors.
