Harlequins Women announce host of star player re-commitments ahead of 2020/21 Premier 15s season

Following the new signing of former England Sevens player Beth Wilcock, Harlequins is delighted to announce the re-commitments of a host of star players ahead of the new season, with the Club’s final squad for the 2020/21 season set to be announced tomorrow (Thursday, October 8).

Premier 15s stars Ellie Green, Fi Fletcher, Heather Cowell and Lucy Packer number amongst those to have re-committed to the Club, with 11 England internationals and two Scotland players boasting a total of 401 international caps’-worth of Test experience also re-committing to the famous Quartered jersey.

Speaking ahead of this first wave of re-commitments, Harlequins Women Head Coach Gerard Mullen said: “I’ve been impressed with the squad since joining, but what excites me most is I still feel this group of players is only scratching the surface with how much better we can be as a team.

“It is going to be hard work, but our aim is to take our game to another level, driven by high levels of speed, intensity and accuracy.”

Speaking of her excitement to re-commit to the Club, wing Heather Cowell said: “It’s great to re-sign for the Club, Harlequins continue to make big strides in the women’s game both on and off the field which is something I’m really proud of. We have a new head coach this season, Gerard Mullen, who has already implemented some exciting stuff, so I am keen to get started!”

England international Vicki Cornborough said: “It’s amazing to commit to Quins this season under new Head Coach Gerard Mullen. He is already challenging us, driving the standards of the elite women’s game and I look forward to putting that into action for the start of the Premier15s.”

Scotland back row Jade Konkel added: “I’m extremely excited, Harlequins are pushing the women’s game forward and are making huge strides for women in sport in general. I am also looking forward to learning from our new head coach, ‘G’.

Harlequins Women will return to Allianz Premier 15s action this Saturday at The Stoop as they host DMP Sharks during the opening game of the 2020/21 season.
