Jaz Bell

Jasmine (Jaz) Bell started playing rugby (league) for her local club, Castelford Panthers RL when she was 12. She then joined West Park Leeds Ladies to play Union. Within a year of switching codes, Jaz represented Yorkshire and The North.

Aged 16, Jaz made her debut playing open age rugby league for featherstone rovers, during the game she injured her knee badly snapping her ACL and damaging her MCL. Three weeks later she was due to play in a National Schools Final, a final she had previously played in … but never won. Against all advice and discouragement, she played the full game! After her operation, Jaz started college at Bishop Burton and under the guidance of her coach Latoya, she endured 18 months of rehab in which time – as you can imagine – she has been in some dark places, but is now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Last season, Jaz played for Yorkshire U18s and at the end of the season went on to represent Yorkshire Ladies. She is currently playing her rugby for DMP Sharks in the Premier15s League.
