Bristol Report

Bristol Ladies fell to their first defeat of the season on Sunday, as they traveled away to Aylesford Ladies playing in a late kick off at The Stoop.

It was always going to be a tough fixture with a large number of players unavailable for selection due to international duties, however Bristol were confident in the strength and depth of the squad after successful cup and 2nd XV results over the last few weeks.

Aylesford started well scoring four unanswered tries and a penalty in the 1st half, with Bristol unable to answer their pace and accuracy. A yellow card for a deliberate knock on meant Bristol had the advantage at the start of the 2nd half, and did manage to score a try through Chantelle Miell (sponsored by Dambusters Rugby). Unfortunately this was the only score Bristol were able to secure, and the final score ended 51 – 5, with Aylesford taking the win.

Head Coach Roy Davies spoke to us after the game ‘It was a tough day in the office for our young team, and our accuracy let us down. Aylesford were quick and able to capitalise early on and build a good platform. It’s always hard to get a result when you lose the physical battle but I can’t fault our players work rate and character and they were brave enough to try and keep playing positive rugby up until the final whistle’.

We look forward to welcoming Worcester Valkyries to Cleve RFC on Sunday 4th December for the next round of the Women’s Premiership.
