Wasps end league on a high against Bristol Bears

Wasps finish the Allianz Premier 15s league in style with a showstopper performance against Bristol bears to finish with a 62-12 win at home.

The squad came out in true black and gold force today as they honour and remember former Wasp Rebecca “Dino” Reeves who sadly lost her battle against cancer last week. Dino made a great impact on the rugby and waspie family both on and off the pitch. A wonderful character, an infectious laugh and loved a good red wine whenever possible, she would be first at the bar with a glass in hand! Dino Played at wasps for many seasons, with a highlight being captain of the second team. She will be gravely missed by many especially her wife and family.

It was a quick start to the game with three tries in the first 10 minutes of the game from Mason, Millar-Mills and Williams taking the team 19 points ahead. Mason went onto score herself a hat-trick with two further cracking runs- one in the first half and one later in the second.

Bristol put themselves on the scoreboard in the 13th minute with a try from their no. 8, Marston

Back in the blalck and gold jersey returning from England duty, Macdonald fancied herself some points with a try from a scrum penalty. Followed by a team try starting with Boatman and ending with Captain Kate Alder to end the half 38-7.

It was a slower start to the second half, Bristol making hard work for the homeside and bringing their A-game to the pitch, not quite enough to shut down Captain Kate Alder who intercepted a kick to score her second of the game.

After a lengthy camp out in Wasps’ territory, Bristol earned themselves another- their replacement back, Jones, taking their score to 12.

Later it came the turn of Kildunne, also back from England duty, who showed her speed on the wing to run in two tries for the home side and take Wasps final score to 62 for the win.

Having beaten DMP Sharks, Harlequins maintained their second position spot in the table and will welcome us to the stoop for the semi final on the 22nd. And after today’s performance – we could not be more excited!
