Rachel Ann Malcolm made her Scotland Women debut as a replacement in the first Women’s Rugby World Cup Qualifier against Spain at Scotstoun Stadium in November 2016.
She started in the Women’s Six Nations opener against Ireland at Broadwood Stadium in 2017, but sustained and injury that sidelined her for the rest of the campaign.
Malcolm is the captain of the 2019/2020 season for the Scotland Women squad. Her first appearance as captain for Scotland Women was in 2018.
She took up rugby in 2015 and is currently the captain of Tyrells Premier XVs side Loughborough Lightning.
Malcolm has just completing her PhD in environmental physiology, and has a sports and exercise science bachelor’s degree, and a masters degree in exercise physiology. She is currently a Lecturer in Applied Sport Science at Nottingham Trent University.
Malcolm’s older brother Donald is a former Scotland U19 international representative. Her younger brother James has also represented Scotland at U18 and U20 level, and is now signed with Glasgow Warriors.
Outside of rugby, Malcolm has represented Scotland at U17, U18 and U21 hockey.
